This third year assessment task incorporates a wide variety of skills and sets out to prepare students for making formal presentations in the work force. First students work in groups to complete a detailed written report in the style of a formal scientific paper with adequate background material, methods, results and conclusions, and they then use this as the basis for an oral presentation. The presentation simulates one which would be given when applying for a grant, and therefore must be aimed at the appropriate, possibly non-specialist, audience.
